NFL Pre-Season Betting Action - Carolina vs. Philadelphia
Both the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles went through big changes during the off-season. The Panthers decided to give up on DeShaun Foster by letting him go in free agency and drafting running back Jonathan Stewart from Oregon in the first-round.

This is the first time that NFL betting fans won’t be bombarded with one hundred articles on why the Carolina Panthers will win the Super Bowl. Ever since their Super Bowl run in 2003, the Panthers have been a lot of NFL writers’ darlings. Not so this season.

The funny thing is that the Panthers might turn things around this year with the defense still very good and a newly created offensive line that could create huge holes for both Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams. The Panthers add depth to a very good NFC South Division.
The Eagles’ changes were just as meaningful. They signed Asante Samuels away from the New England Patriots. That automatically upgrades their defensive backfield. The key for football betting fans when it comes to the Eagles is whether or not Donovan McNabb can survive an entire season injury free.
I don’t know what Eagles’ fans expect from the guy. He does everything you want out of your quarterback. He rarely makes a mistake and will give himself up on the football field to get the job done.
If the Eagles fail it will be because they have a suspect offensive line and their defense, even with the addition of Asante Samuels, just isn’t good enough to get them into the playoffs.
Here are the BetUS online sportsbook odds for this NFL Pre-season game:
Carolina Panthers + 3 - 105 O 35 ½ - 110
Philadelphia Eagles - 3 - 115 U 35 ½ - 110
The NFL wagering odds favor the Eagles because they are playing this game at home. In their first game in the NFL Pre-season the Philadelphia Eagles did fairly well losing 16 to 10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. McNabb looked sharp in his lone series against the Steelers’ first team defense.
The Carolina Panthers beat the Indianapolis Colts in their first NFL Pre-season game of the year 23 to 20 in overtime. Julius Peppers looked very good. If the Panthers expect to make a playoff run this upcoming NFL season, they will need their former Pro Bowl defensive-end to return to form.
Another great sign for the Panthers in their first game was the fact that DeAngelo Williams ran so great between the tackles. If Carolina can get that offensive line to gel early, this team could do some damage in the NFC South.
But who’s going to win this game? Against the spread, I have to go with the Panthers. They can go two deep at the running back position with both Williams and Jonathan Stewart while the Eagles will keep McNabb’s and running back Bryant Westbrook’s plays to a minimum.
The Eagles can’t afford to get either McNabb or Westbrook hurt in the pre-season game, both guys are too valuable to this team, and that will lead to a straight-up loss. Since BetUS isn’t offering a money-line online wager, I’m going to have to take the Panther’s and the points.
That’s where my NFL wagering dollars will be - - on the Carolina Panthers to beat the spread. I’ll take Carolina and the points in this game.
