Preseason Odds - New York Giants vs. Detroit Lions
The New York Giants begin their quest for a second consecutive Super Bowl this Thursday when they take on the Detroit Lions. Okay, it’s only the Giant’s first pre-season game, but there will be a lot of eyes on this team as they take the field competitively for the first time this NFL season.

For NFL betting fans, it’s going to be important to see how well this team plays together. There has been a lot of dissension in Giant’s camp since that Super Bowl victory. Jeremy Shockey is no longer with the team. Plaxico Burress is feeling mistreated and Michael Strahan has retired.

For the Detroit Lions, the name of the game should be defense. They also need to find out if John Kitna is really the answer at quarterback. Of course, nobody will be the answer if the Lions don’t get that offensive line reworked.
Here are the BetUS NFL Odds for this game:

When making online NFL betting wagers on pre-season games, it’s important for online NFL wagering fans to note that trends are sort of meaningless. Neither team in this match-up is going to play their starters all that much.
To be successful at betting on pre-season NFL games, sportsbook betting fans must get into the minds of NFL coaches and members of the coaching staffs in order to get a feel for what each squad hope to accomplish in each pre-season game.
The Giants, in my estimation, are going to be looking for consistency. Their roster is pretty much set. They haven’t drafted a player that will change how this team conducts business on the field. Kenny Phillips, their number one draft pick, will get some work, but I doubt that coach Tom Coughlin is going to want him out there very long.
More than likely, Coughlin will give quarterback Andre Woodson a lot of snaps in this game. Woodson will be fighting for a roster spot. So I do expect him to force some of his throws.
The Detroit Lions, meanwhile, will need to really work with that offensive line this pre-season to get it ready for the regular season. They cannot expect a revamped O-Line to suddenly start playing well in the first game of the season unless a lot of work is put into it.
When in doubt, take the home team in pre-season games. That’s what I believe. But there isn’t a whole lot of doubt in this game. The Giants won’t force the issue at all. That means that Detroit should win this game by at least a touchdown.
The Lions have more to look at in this pre-season; they have more to straighten out. In this game.
