NFL Football Betting Futures 2008 - Not Quite Dunn in Tampa
Three years ago, Tampa Bay took a lease
out with a Cadillac. When that had to go
in to the shop for a bad well, things turned
Earnest [Graham]. Now, the Bucs turn to
an old friend to help solidify a backfield
very few in the sports betting community
have faith in.

The question marks
for Tampa come in bundles. Can Dexter emerge
as a viable No .2 receiver to compliment
Joey Galloway? Does Jeff Garcia have anything
left in the tank? Will the far-too-young
/ far-too-old defense be able to anchor
behind Barret Ruud? Will the NFL football
betting community take risk on this team?

You see my
point. Yet, for a team that rewarded its
sports betting faithful by going 9-7 ATS
and 6-2 ATS at home. They still have one
of the easier schedules in the league,
and don’t have a formidable threat
in their division unless New Orleans miraculously
pulls their act together (which isn’t
a bet I’m willing to make).
Dunn may be
thirty-three years old, but he also had
958 total yards last year with 4 touchdowns.
In Gruden’s version of
the West Coast offense, Gruden needs versatile
weapons. He has his north-south runner in
Graham, the likely starter. But Dunn adds
a dynamic threat because of his hands and
his ability to turn tiny passes in to big
gains.
Tampa Bay had 326.8 yards per game with
20.9 points, ranking them as the eighteenth
best team in the league in yards gained.
What that means is that they are a very efficient
offensive team. It also means that they played
conservatively.
Dunn’s presence adds a back that can
catch out of the backfield – a threat
that Tampa hasn’t had since Pittman
was at his peak in 2002. Now Dunn can be
a versatile threat that can detach and create
mismatches, which draws attention from the
slot, while Graham pounds the ball between
the tackles.
Last year, Tampa was a great value bet for
their football betting faithful. This year,
I like them even more. This team plays in
a weak division, and will play parlay that
in to another playoff berth. Will you be
on the bandwagon shaking fists full of dollars
from our betting futures?
