2008 NCAA Football Odds To Win Big 10 Conference
Illinois +400
(9-4 SU, 6-2 (C), 7-5-0 ATS, 8-4 O/U)
The Loss of Rashard Mendenhall will hurt, but blossoming quarterback Juice Williams could be the difference-maker in 2008. Illinois also has six defensive starters returning.
Indiana +3000
(7-6 SU, 3-5 (C), 7-5 ATS, 6-6 O/U)
Quarterback Kellen Lewis has been suspended and the Hoosiers will miss his leadership immensely. The team has 13 total starters back from a year ago, but this team’s defense will be severely tested.
Iowa +1200
(6-6 SU, 4-4 (C), 6-6 ATS, 3-9 O/U)
The Hawkeyes are seriously thin at running back, the quarterback situation is in a state of flux and the defense is extremely young. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Michigan +500
(9-4 SU, 6-2 (C), 7-5 ATS, 5-7 O/U)
Head coach Rich Rodriguez has his work cut out in his first season after bolting West Virginia. Just three starters return on offense and Michigan has yet to settle on a starting quarterback, though the defense is loaded with experience and talent.
Michigan State +1000
(7-6 SU, 3-5 (C), 8-5 ATS, 9-4 O/U)
The offense and defense each returns six starters from a year ago, including stars in quarterback Brian Hoyers, running back Javon Ringer linebacker Greg Jones and now, defensive end Trevor Anderson.

With a fairly soft schedule, expect somewhere in the neighborhood of eight wins.
Minnesota +6000
(1-11 SU, 0-8 (C), 4-6-1 ATS, 7-4 O/U)
Second-year head coach Tim Brewster has his work cut out, but has nowhere to go but up after an absolutely atrocious 2007 season in which they went 0-8 in conference play. The team needs to find a suitable runner as quarterback Adam Weber led the team in both, passing and rushing a year ago. The team finished last in the nation in defense and still has a high school-quality kind of secondary.
Northwestern +1800
(6-6 SU, 3-5 (C), 4-7 ATS, 5-6 O/U)
The Wildcats return eight starters on offense and seven on defense. If the team’s unproven offensive line gels quickly – and the defensive secondary doesn’t get burned too often, the Wildcats could approach seven wins in 2008.
Ohio State +120
(11-2 SU, 7-1 (C), 7-5 ATS, 7-5 O/U)
The Buckeyes are loaded on defense and should be better on offense with quarterback Todd Boeckman having another year of experience under his belt. Ohio State’s offensive line is also loaded and the Buckeyes have a gifted running back in Chris Wells.
Purdue +1200
(8-5 SU, 3-5 (C), 5-6-1 ATS, 5-6 O/U)
Penn State +500
(9-4 SU, 4-4 ATS, 6-7 (C), 6-7 O/U)
Penn State’s quarterback situation is muddied and the Nittany Lions will have a new starting running back in 2008 in sophomore Evan Royster. All five starting offensive linemen also return and Penn State also has one of the best defensive lines in the nation.
Wisconsin +250
(9-4 SU, 5-3 (C), 4-8-0 ATS, 6-6 O/U)
The defense returns six starters and the Badgers have a terrific running back in junior, J.P., but Wisconsin’s quarterback situation needs to be settled.
