NBA Wagering Action Thursday Game Picks
Miami Heat (9-41) @ Chicago Bulls (20-31)
The good news
about the Miami Heat’s
nine wins this season is that they won’t
beat the ’72-’73 Philadelphia
76ers for fewest wins in an NBA season.
Outside of that, good news has been short
to come by in Miami.
They have yet
to win since acquiring Shawn Marion and
Marcus Banks in exchange for Shaquille
O’Neal and have only covered the
spread in two of their last eight games.
The Chicago
Bulls, who defeated the Heat in the first
round of the playoffs last year, have endured
a similarly disappointing season. They’ve only won twice in their last
seven games but the good news is they’ve
been supporting bettors at the very least.
They have covered the spread in seven of
their last nine games.
The Bulls have covered six of the last nine
meetings in Chicago but have covered only
eight of 24 games at home this season.
They are 0-2 as a three-point home favorite
of three points or less and are 1-6 ATS in
home games when the totals is between 190
to 194.5.
The Heat are 4-16 ATS against teams with
a losing record.
Free Pick: Miami
Dallas Mavericks (35-17) @ Phoenix Suns
(36-16)
The Dallas Mavericks were supposed to be
the next Western Conference powerhouse to
bolster their lineup with a superstar but
little used Devean George altered that plan.
The Mavericks had seemingly completed a
trade to acquire Jason Kidd until George
exercised a no-trade clause.
On Wednesday
night, George finished 0-for-11 from the
floor but the Mavericks still trumped the
Portland Trail Blazers 96-76. They haven’t
fared so well after blowouts, though, and
are just 2-5 ATS after wins by 10 points
or more.
On Thursday night, they head to Phoenix,
where they have lost 17 of their last 27
games.
The Suns are only 9-15 ATS in home games,
though, and just 2-5 ATS against the Southwest
Division. Conversely, the Mavericks are 7-1
straight up against Pacific Division.
The Mavericks thrive against poor defensive
teams, posting a record of 18-8 against teams
that are allowing 99 points per game.
The Suns will
be without O’Neal on
Thursday night, who isn’t expected
to make his debut until after the All-Star
break
