effort, so the Spurs are getting exactly
what they need from their own superstar.
But they need Manu to overcome the
defensive devil, Sasha Vujacic, who
played 30+ minutes for the first time
in his storied career. He’s
a jerk. Nobody who isn’t a Lakers
fan likes him. But goddamn can he contain
Manu like no other.
The lucky thing for the Spurs betting
faithful is that they are 5-1 ATS in
their last 6 games. Unfortunately they
are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games,
making it virtually impossible to back
them from a betting standpoint. The total
has gone UNDER in 4-of-6 on the road
as well.
The problem
with betting on the Spurs mounting
an impossible deficit is that 20 points
should be impossible enough. Not for
Kobe, and not for these Lakers. The
Lakers are 9-3-1 ATS in their last
13 games. Yes, they are 1-4 ATS in
their last 5 home stands against the
Spurs, but they are also 4-1 SU during
that span. A tight line burned their
betting faithful last time, it won’t
this time.
Here’s why: Kobe went crazy in
the fourth because he realized that he
could. He took over the game, much in
the same way he did when he dropped 83
points on the Raptors. Kobe is by and
large the best player in the game today
because of that ability, which is coupled
with his intense, burning desire to be
the best in the world. The reigning MVP
won’t be contained tonight which
is going to make tonight’s spread
a joke.
