having their modest four-game winning streak
emphatically snapped by the Utah Jazz last
Sunday, the Houston Rockets, (25-20 SU, 22-22-1
ATS, 19-25-1 O/U) got back on track in their
last contest, beating the high-scoring Washington
Wizards 111-107 to pick up their seventh victory
in their last ten games.
The Indiana
Pacers, (19-27 SU, 22-24 ATS, 24-20-2 O/U)
have been a disappointment in head coach
Jim O’Brien’s first
season and enter tonight’s matchup
having lost four consecutive games and seven
of their last ten, including a close 110-104
home decision to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
The Pacers will face a Rockets team that
may be without swingman Tracy McGrady who
is suffering from flu-like symptoms, but
will face a tall test, (literally) in Rockets
all-star center Yao Ming, who scored 36 points
and pulled down 19 rebounds against the Warriors.
"We had Yao Ming," Rockets forward
Shane Battier said on the team's official
Web site. "That was the difference.
The big fella was awesome tonight. He really
put us on his back. He was aggressive and
he just played a phenomenal game."
Indiana small forward Mike Dunleavy has
been on a tear recently in what is clearly
his finest season as a professional. Dunleavy
is averaging 24.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and
5.0 assists while shooting 57.5 percent from
the field over his last three games and is
averaging career highs in scoring, (17.8
ppg), rebounding, (5.9 rpg) and assists,
(3.3 apg) in his first full season with the
Pacers.
The Pacers and Rockets split two games last
season, with each team winning on its home
floor.
