NBA Basketball Betting - New Jersey at Charlotte
BetUS: WHO:
New Jersey Nets (20-29 SU, 18-30-1 ATS) at
Charlotte Hornets (18-31 SU, 19-28-1 ATS)
WHERE: Charlotte Bobcats Arena
WHEN: Friday, February 8 at 7 PM ET
BetUS NBA betting odds: CHARLOTTE -5, Total
194
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting
trends:
* NJ has won 10 of the last 13 meetings
SU
* Six of the last seven meetings have gone
OVER the total
* NJ has won six of the last seven meetings
SU as the visitor
* Five of the last seven meetings in Charlotte
have gone OVER the total
The Nets are hitting just 43% of their field
goal attempts. And despite the presence of
Jason Kidd, they have committed 15.1 turnovers
a game. Also:
* NJ has covered three of its last 14 games
* NJ has lost 12 of its last 14 games SU
* NJ has played four of its last five games
UNDER the total
* NJ has covered one of its last five road
games
* NJ has lost nien of its last ten road
games SU
Charlotte makes only 70% of its free throws,
which is dead last in the NBA. The Bobcats
have 1.5 assists for every turnover. Also:
* CHAR is 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games
* CHAR has lost five of its last six games
SU
* CHAR has played five of its last six games
OVER the total
New Jersey, which earlier in the season
looked like it was going to be one of the
Eastern Conference contenders, at least for
a playoff spot, is not COMPLETELY out of
it yet but it does look more like a potential
disaster area now. It appears that Jason
Kidd is in his waning days in the fold, and
others like Vince Carter could be dealt more
cheaply than general manager Rod Thorn intended.
Fans are getting on Thorn for not making
moves to get players like Pau Gasol and Shaquille
O'Neal, but he makes a good point, namely,
who would want to play in New Jersey right
now? Can't argue with that.
Charlotte is coming back from its road trip,
and the Bobcats have been discovering that
their coach, Sam Vincent, won't hesitate
to throw them under the bus if he gets the
chance, and do it in public too. Gerald Wallace
is out of action, and he is the team's best
all-around player. And while there are other
scoring options, like Jason Richardson, this
is a team we are wary about laying points
with.
So an admittedly shaky recommendation, but
a recommendation nonetheless, for the Nets,
the five-point underdog in the BetUS NBA
betting odds.
