NBA Betting - Hornets (predict: + 3.5) vs. Spurs (predict: - 3.5)

is stellar Saturday match-up between maybe
the two best teams in the Western Conference
at this point in the season. Straight-up the
Spurs are still a terrific team but their
against the spread record, and almost straight-up
loss to the Heat on Thursday night, says
to me that the BetUS odds makers won’t
make the Spurs an overwhelming favorite in
this game. New Orleans is one of the best
coached teams in the NBA. Unlike the Spurs,
they are a pretty good against the spread
team as well.
Here are more trends to help us:
The New Orleans Hornets are 21-5-1 against
the spread in their last 27 games on the
road.
The San Antonio Spurs are 3 and 9 against
the spread in their last 12 overall games.
The ROAD team is 5 and 0 against the spread
in the last 5 meetings between these two
teams.
The FAVORITE is 6 and 2 against the spread
in the last 8 meetings between these two
teams.
The Hornets
look tough to me in this game. San Antonio
is not an easy place to play but there
is something about this New Orleans team
that makes them a tough out no matter where
they play. It all starts at the top with
coach Byron Scott who just knows how to
settle his guys down and get a win. With
Magic type clone Chris Paul at the point,
Byron must be feeling like he’s got
enough on this team to make a serious push
in the playoffs.
Because of
that I really like the Hornets to upset
things on Saturday. I’m taking
a stand by writing that, but I believe that
the Spurs are just sleep-walking through
this regular season. They love to fight against
the Mavericks and Suns, but when it comes
to these supposedly “B” type
Western Conference teams like the Hornets,
they tend to take it easy until the fourth
quarter.
The Spurs almost
lost a game on Thursday playing that way
versus the Miami Heat. I’m
thinking that they will lose this Saturday
playing that way versus the New Orleans Hornets.
The BetUS predicted
basketball betting line should fall anywhere
between Spurs – 2
to Spurs – 4.5. I believe it will be
an almost exact 3 to 3.5 against the Hornets.
NBA Free Pick: I like the Hornets to beat
the spread. In fact I believe that the Hornets
will be a decent money line wager on Saturday.
