Miami is the lowest scoring team in the
NBA, third lowest in scoring on the road,
and second lowest in rebounding on the road.
The Heat has turned the ball over 14.5 times
a game and registered 19.7 assists per contest.
Also:

Detroit is second in the NBA in points allowed
(89.9 per game). They do that on 43.8% shooting
allowed by opponents. Detroit takes care
of the ball very well, coughing it up just
eleven times per outing. Also:
* DET has won its last five games SU

games

SU
* DET has played nine of its last 13 home
games UNDER the total
We liked the
heat to go "under" in
its last contest, and they did their part
just fine. However, the opponent - Toronto
- did not. Here, Detroit enjoys playing a
slower pace, which pat Riley should want
to do, since his team is short-handed. And
now comes word that Shaquille O'Neal, spiritual
leader of the franchise's only world championship,
may be dealt to the Phoenix Suns as early
as today.
Detroit allows less points at home than
any team in the NBA (86 ppg). The Pistons
are just coming off a stunning defensive
performance on Sunday, as they held Dallas
to 23 field goals and 67 points. Miami, the
league's lowest scoring group, is not likely
to offer very much resistance. And they have
scored less than usual lately (only 89 ppg
over the last 11).
Eleven of the
last 12 in this series have gone under
the number, and Detroit has been skewing
in that direction lately as well (9 of
last 13 at home). Since the Pistons are
likely to be able to control the tempo,
we'll move "under" the 186 points
as it is posted in the BetUS NBA betting
odds.
