The joy Miami fans had over breaking the
disastrous 15-game losing streak against
Indiana on Saturday was short-lived, as the
Heat played host to a Boston team that was
without Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and got
trounced by a 117-87 count, shooting 36%
against the defensively-stout Celtics. They
won't be facing such a lockdown unit tonight
in Orlando, but there is no mistaking the
dominance the Magic has had over this franchise
in recent meetings.
Orlando has now won and covered seven straight
times against Miami, including a 56% shooting
performance in the 120-99 romp right here
at the Amway Arena in November.
Or course,
Shaquille O'Neal is out for a while with
fluid in his hip, but the latest discouraging
news is that the consistent, workman-like
power forward Udonis Haslem is nursing
a sprained ankle. Haslem has led the team
in rebounding and without him, the Heat
wouldn't have any real strength at all
up front. Dwyane Wade left the Boston game
with "flu-like symptoms."
Big impost to overcome here, but virtually
no positives for Miami right now, so we will
lay the team that has won and covered four
of its last five games. That's the Magic,
the 13.5-point favorite in the BetUS NBA
betting odds.
