NFL Football Betting - Monday Night Football
On Monday night (8:30 PM ET), the nation
will be watching Seattle's Qwest Field
(FieldTurf) as the Seahawks (4-4 SU, 3-4-1
ATS) try to climb above the .500 mark as
they play host to the San Francisco 49ers
(2-6 SU, 2-5-1 ATS). In the BetUS NFL football
betting odds, the Seahawks are listed at
-10, with the over/under posted at 39.5
points.
Here are some NFL football betting trends
as they relate to this matchup:
* SAN FRAN has won five of its last 21
road games SU
* SAN FRAN has covered just one of its
last six games
* SEATTLE is 2-4-1 ATS in its last seven
games
* SEATTLE has won 19 of its last 23 home
games SU
* The last three meetings have gone UNDER
the total
I have to believe the Seattle Seahawks
are going to be a little bit riled up after
blowing a 21-3 lead against Cleveland last
week. Of course, if they get that kind
of lead again they're going against perhaps
the one offense that doesn't have the capability
to catch up. It is very tough in the National
Football League to win when you are gaining
224 yards a game, with a 13-point scoring
average.
San Francisco's offense has put a lot
of pressure on its defense by failing to
stay on the field for very long. The Niners
have just over 13 first downs per game,
and have converted on less than 30% of
third down opportunities. Alex Smith has
just two TD passes and is just shy of 50%
completions and five yards an attempt.
Forty-Niner quarterbacks have been sacked
28 times. Smith was sacked six times in
Seattle's 23-3 win on September 30. Frank
Gore has been bottled up for most of the
year, and Seattle, burned by Gore in being
swept last season, held him to 79 yards
in the first meeting. But that is the theme
when playing the Niners, who are on a six-game
losing streak.
At least Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck (62%,
13 TD's) has gotten an offense going on
occasion. And though Shaun Alexander (3.3
ypc) is battling some ankle and knee problems,
and Deion Branch may be out with a foot
injury, there are capable replacements.
For example, Bobby Engram, who'd start
for Branch, had 14 catches last week. And
hard-running Maurice Morris (4.6 ypc) would
sub for Alexander.
The Seahawks are perfectly capable of
scoring some points. The Niners are perfectly
capable of putting up a three-spot and
leaving it at that. So we're going to lay
the double digits with Seattle, a 10-point
favorite in the BetUS NFL football betting
odds.
