Dogs Week 11
A busy week
for home dogs as there are only six this
week. The key NFL football matchup will
be in Buffalo as all eyes will be on
the streaking Bills to see if they can
end New England’s quest
for a perfect season. Don’t hold
your breath.
Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens (+3.5)
Derek Anderson
and Jamal Lewis, two players who were
jettisoned from the Baltimore organization,
head back to Baltimore for the second
meeting between the two teams this year.
In the first meeting, Baltimore was bombed
27-13. The Ravens offense is in shambles
right now but Kyle Boller starting means
they will be able to throw the ball down
the field. Cleveland is off a tough loss
and better not get caught sleeping against
the Ravens – they don’t
lose frequently at home.
Free Pick: Baltimore +3.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons
(+3.5)
No team needed
a bye week like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
and with the Carolina Panthers and New
Orleans Saints losing while the Bucs
stayed idle, it was almost as good as
a win. Look for the Bucs to be extremely
fresh as they head to Atlanta off a bye
week. Atlanta barely squeaked by Carolina
last week and although they seem to be
competitive weekly, I have more confidence
in Tampa’s defense than I do in Atlanta’s
offense.
Free Pick: Tampa Bay -3.5
New York Giants @ Detroit Lions (+3.5)
The Detroit
Lions have yet to lose at home this season,
making them an excellent home dog this
week. They are typically a Jekyll/Hyde
at home vs the road and this line is
reflective of their poor performance
on the road in Arizona last week. The
Giants proved that their secondary isn’t
capable of covering anyone, so look for
Mike Martz to test them for a second consecutive
week. Two teams with the same record – I’ll
take the home team.
Free Pick: Detroit +3.5
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Jets (+10.5)
The New York
Jets are in a tough spot this week as
they get the Pittsburgh Steelers off
a game where they weren’t focused
in the first half. You can rest assured
that that won’t happened for a second
consecutive week. The Jets are quickly
skidding downhill and even though they
are off a bye week, there isn’t much
to like about them. The prospects of Kellen
Clemens against a focused Steelers defense
isn’t attractive and the Steelers
have shown they can score points on any
defense.
Free Pick: Pittsburgh -10.5
St. Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers (+3.5)
If the Rams
are healthy, they should be a tough team
to beat. They proved to be healthy last
week and stomped New Orleans on the road.
The Rams should be much more confident
this week as they head to San Francisco,
who is short on self-esteem on a short
week of preparation after getting shutout
on Monday Night Football. Nothing is
right in San Francisco – they
can’t run the ball and getting to
200 yards of offense is a struggle. If
they hang their defense out to dry once
again, they’ll get blown out once
again.
Free Pick: St. Louis -3.5
New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills (+17)
Do you really want to bet against the
New England Patriots, who will have two
weeks to prepare for the Buffalo Bills?
While the Bills are hot right now, they
might be without Marshawn Lynch on Sunday,
which should eliminate any shot they have
at winning. Look for the Patriots to keep
running up the score once they get ahead.
The Bills are overmatched here.
Free Pick: New England -17
