NFL Wagering - Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta
Betus
Preview -
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-4 SU & ATS)
try to maintain their lead in the NFC South
division on Sunday when they visit the
Georgia Dome (artificial turf) to play
the Atlanta Falcons (3-6 SU, 6-3 ATS) in
a divisional matchup that starts at 1 PM
ET. The BetUS NFL football betting odds
list Tampa Bay at -3.5, with a total posted
at 35.5 points.
Here are some NFL football betting trends
as they relate to this matchup:
* TB has covered three of its last 10
road games
* TB has played eight of its last 11 games
UNDER the total
* TB has won two of its last 13 road games
SU
* TB has played four of its last five
road games UNDER the total
* ATL has covered five of its last six
games
* ATL has played five straight games UNDER
the total
* ATL has played 18 of its last 25 games
UNDER the total

* Four of the last six meetings have gone
UNDER the total
* Seven of the last 10 meetings in ATL
have gone OVER the total
Joey Harrington sure was shocked when
he heard that whenever Byron Leftwich is
healthy, he is going to be re-inserted
as the #1 QB with the Falcons, especially
as Harrington ( 63.6%, 5 TD, 5 INT) had
led Atlanta to two straight wins. Leftwich's
status for this week was undetermined as
of this writing, but what it certain is
that coach Bobby Petrino has a real communication
problem with his players.
Either way, things will move slow on offense
for the home team - Atlanta had just 12
first downs last week and won on the basis
of defense against crippled Carolina. But
the Falcons have rediscovered a running
game, with Warrick Dunn posting 189 yards
over the last two weeks. That's good, because
Tampa Bay, which has the league's sixth-ranked
overall defense, has yielded just 173 passing
yards a game, ranking them third in the
NFL in that category. This is an unusual
matchup in that we have two starting QB's
who have been there almost the whole year,
yet they have just 14 TD passes between
them (Jeff Garcia has 9 TD's).
With Atlanta scoring just 15 ppg, Tampa
Bay still looking for a solid solution
at running back and the historical trends
pointing heavily toward a low-scoring game,
we will move in that direction as well,
going under 35.5 points as posted in the
BetUS NFL football betting odds.
