NCAA Football Bowl Betting - Emerald Bowl Action
Preview
The Oregon State
Beavers will have a decisive advantage when
they head in to the Emerald Bowl this weekend
against the Maryland Terps. The boys from
Baltimore will have to travel all the way
across the country to play this game, while
Oregon has to jog down the coast a little
to get to San Francisco. The climate, and
the traveling time, will play a big factor
in this matchup as the Terps try to undo
the failings of going 2-4 SU in their last
6 games.
Maryland Offense vs. Oregon State Defense
The Terps know that the key to their success
(if you can call it that) is their rushing
attack. With Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball
splitting carries, the Terps have averaged
147.3 rushing yards per game. However, the
tattered offensive line has been torn apart
by injuries and that has killed the rushing
game. The Oregon State front-seven relentlessly
attacks the ball carrier and holds opponents
to 74.9 rushing yards per game in the process.
Quarterback Chris Turner has been unsenational
this season, throwing a measly 5 touchdowns
and 5 picks. He lacks the ability to make
quick decisions, which could prove disastrous
to his health and the Terps betting faithful
this weekend. The Beavers have totaled 43
sacks this season, and will be unremitting
in unleashing a variety of blitz packages
to confuse and destroy Turner in the pocket.
Oregon State Offense vs. Maryland Defense
Maryland gives up 136.7 rushing yards per
game and 219.3 passing yards per game, while
keeping opponents to an average of 21.6 points
per game. They will face a strong rushing
attack fro Oregon State, which averages 166.6
rushing yards on the ground and is balanced
by an efficient, short passing attack.
The quarterback situation for the Beavers
is up in the air. Regular starter Lyle Moevao
has been uninspiring, but steady, in the
place of Sean Canfield, who returns from
a shoulder injury. Either way they go, running-back
Yvenson Bernard will shoulder the offensive
load and have his way with a Beavers front-five
that is far too experienced for the Maryland
defensive front to handle.
NCAA Football Betting Trends
-Maryland is 3-6-1 ATS in its last 10 games
-Maryland is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games
-Oregon State is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games
-total has
gone OVER in 4 of Oregon State’s
last 6 games
Final Verdict
Maryland has
continued its history of bumbling in to
the tail end of the season. Their embarrassing
play has done little to invigorate the NCAAF
betting community with any enthusiasm. The
Beavers, however, ended the season with a
strong three-game streak. The Beavers betting
backers won’t need to knock on wood
this weekend. Instead they will pound the
rock with Bernard as the Beavers trounce
Maryland.
