NBA Basketball Betting - Lakers at Chicago Bulls
BetUS: The
Los Angeles Lakers (14-9 SU, 13-8 ATS), with
five covering efforts in their last six games,
descend upon blizzard-ravaged Chicago on Tuesday
night to face off against the Chicago Bulls
( 8-13 SU, 7-14 ATS) in an NBA game scheduled
to begin at 8:30 PM ET.
In the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds,
the Bulls are listed as a one-point favorite,
with the total posted at 202 points.
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting
trends:
* LAL have covered four of the last five
meetings
* LAL have won six of the last nine meetings
SU
* The last eight meetings have gone UNDER
the total
* CHI has won and covered four of the last
six meetings as the home team
* Four of the last five meetings in Chicago
have gone UNDER the total
This Los Angeles team is doing pretty well,
with a 14-9 record, which is good for second
place in the Pacific Division. The Lakers,
in covering five of their last six games,
have averaged 112 ppg during that time. Only
one team has scored more points than they
have on the road. Of course, the major catalyst
is Kobe Bryant, who is averaging 27.2 ppg
on 45% shooting. there have plenty of rumors
that had Bryant going to the Bulls in a trade,
but those seem to have died down. Playing
with a strained left groin muscle, Bryant
racked up 32 points against the Clippers
on Sunday. Also:
* LAL have won and covered five of their
last six games
* LAL have covered 11 of their last 16 road
games
* LAL have won two of their last six road
games SU
* LAL have shot 47.1% from the field, fifth
in the league
* LAL average 106.4 ppg on the road, second
in the league
The Bulls rank last in the NBA with 41%
shooting from the field, although it must
be said that their marksmanship has picked
up over the last three games, hitting 54%
against Seattle, 43% against Indiana and
47% in the last game, a five-point win over
the Knicks. Chicago has also topped 100 points
in each of the last three games. Also:
* CHI is 7-15 ATS in its last 22 games
* CHI has won four of its last six games
SU
* CHI is 3-4 ATS as a home favorite
* CHI has played four of its last five home
games OVER the total
* CHI shoots 41% from the field, last in
the NBA
Chicago is
seeking revenge here, as the Lakers humiliated
them back on November 18, winning by a
106-78 count. In that game the Lakers had
73 points off the bench. But Luol Deng,
who was not available for the Bulls in
that one, will be back in the lineup, and
although we don't expect to see a hot-shooting
Bulls team, we think that after three days
of rest, their intensity will show up on
the defensive end, especially as Ben Wallace
tries to take 19-year-old Andrew Bynum to
school. Bryant has averaged "only" 24.6
ppg in his career against Chicago, and one
must keep an eye on that groin injury (not
literally) to see if it bothers him after
just a day off. We like the Bulls, the one-point
favorite in the BetUS NBA basketball betting
odds, but we also have to recognize the recent
totals history of these teams. Not only have
the last eight meetings all gone under the
total, but in the last six meetings combined,
only one team has reached the 100-mark. So
defense has dominated.
