NFL Week 1
The New England Patriots
(-7) and New York Jets (+7) developed a
quick rivalry last season after former
Pats assistant coach Eric Mangini left
New England to take over as the head man
in New York and promptly built the Jets
into a competitive bunch that managed to
split games with their division rivals
during the regular season.
The Patriots have legitimate Super Bowl
hopes while the Jets are hoping to make
an extended postseason trip themselves.
Here is a look
at tonight’s key
trends followed by my Free NFL Betting
Picks:
Key Patriots Trends
The Patriots are 5-0 ATS in their last
five games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0.
The Patriots are 5-0 ATS in their last
five games as a road favorite of 3.5-10.0.
The Patriots are 7-1 ATS in their last
eight games as a road favorite.
Key Jets Trends
The Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last five
games on Grass.
The Jets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven
games overall.
The Jets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven
home games.
Key Totals Trends
The Under is 4-0 in Patriots last four
games as a road favorite.
The Under is 5-1 in Patriots last six
games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0.
The Over is 4-0 in Jets last four games
in September.
The Over is 10-2 in Jets last 12 games
as a home underdog of 3.5-10.0.
Key Head-to-Head Trends
The Patriots are 8-0 ATS in their last
eight meetings in New York.
The Patriots are 7-1-1 ATS in their last
nine meetings.
The Favorite is 6-1-1 ATS in their last
eight meetings.
New
England Patriots: The Patriots are
absolutely loaded on offense after adding
three veteran wide receivers in Wes Welker,
Randy Moss and Donte Stallworth. With the
best head coach in all of football in Bill
Belichick, and a defense that has been
bolstered by the addition of linebacker
Adalius Thomas, the Patriots may be the
only team in the league that can stop the
terrifying bunch they appear to be.
New
York Jets: The Jets surprised a bunch of people
last season going 10-6 in Mangini’s
first season. New York will be hard-pressed
to win 10 games this season even though
they will likely be a better team than
last year. The addition of former Chicago
Bears running back Thomas Jones will give
the Jets the steady production out of the
running back spot they didn’t get
last season because of Curtis Martin’s
injury and impending retirement.
Analysis: While
I don’t necessarily
think the Jets are in the Patriots’ class
at the moment, I believe they will turn
this game into the type of affair they
had with the Patriots twice last season
when they lost to the Patriots 17-24 at
home in week two and before traveling to
New England where they won 17-14 in week
10. Take the Jets to cover the high football
betting spread here bettors.
